The HDB Gallery, which has literally been under wraps since May 2009 when it was closed for complete revamp, was unveiled yesterday by Dr Mohamad Maliki Osman, Parliamentary Secretary for National Development.

Staff and public can now enjoy the exciting new offerings of the HDB Gallery which showcases the evolution of public housing from its humble beginnings to the vibrant towns of today. Through its multi-sensory self-exploratory exhibits in six themed zones, the Gallery offers visitors a self-discovery experience of Singapore's public housing story - From Slums to Vibrant Towns.

Visitors can learn about public housing experiences through life-size holograms and a panoramic 360-degree theatre -- both firsts for any gallery in Singapore. And be enthralled by the 'actors' that come 'alive' at the touch of a button to explain various topics like HDB's home ownership programme.

The gallery is open from Mondays to Fridays, 8.30 am to 5.00 pm, and 8.30 am to 12.30 pm on Saturdays, except Public Holidays. Admission is free, So, do find the time to visit our revamped HDB Gallery and get on board the public housing journey!

Familiar? YES!!! Okay, i know i am very slow and lagging and most of you who probably follow Gossip girls are already halfway in Season 3!

Recently i caught it on and i never look back.. Started all the way from Season 1, it took me 2.5 weeks to get to Season 3 and i'm proud of it. HAHA.. You must be thinking.. DAVID ANG, why are you watching this kind of stupid show.. But the fact is.. I like it! Definitely not for Blake Lively or Leighton Meester.. OK a little bit.. but i think Ed Westwick (Chuck Bass) is the real deal! OK, i'm not gay but i think he really got into the role and to me.. He is simply the best actor amongst the young ones.

To think of it.. why would i really watch GG? Maybe it's my CNN nickname.. it seems pretty relevant to me.. So here i come Season 3!

Youth Meeting with D Man

Last Monday we had a youth meeting with PK. It was much anticipated by the youth in the whole church because we know for sure it will be more than just another meeting.

We were challenged, inspired and touched by how the pioneer laid down their time, effort, finances to what we can see and enjoy.. and i think personally, the best thing that i took home that night was the rekindling of the joy to serve Him once again.

Recently i caught a few movies and it must have been a breakthrough for me because i'm not really a movie person.

I caught almost 5-6 movies in maybe 2 months? HEY, that's breakthrough for me alright.. and slowly i have really developed an interest for movies! and there are so many movies that are actually showing or coming soon in the coming weeks!

See all of these movies! i wish i will have the time to watch all of them.. ahhaha but the possibility is close to zero..

Anyway recently, i heard that they had this prediction webpage for movies on whether they will make it to the box office!

There were many bad reviews about avatar that it would definitely be a flop! But it turned out to be the highest grossing movie of all time, relegated Titanic to 2nd place!

But recently, i have been reading up stuff about pets, particularly dogs and i think that alone had changed my views towards them! Seems like the dog lovers community is growing! Hola! I'm super excited and happy! I mean yes, i got selected for a position in one of the companies i went for interview! It's exactly on Wednesday morning when they gave me a call early in the morning! I'm grateful but since i have one week to consider the offer, i'm still waiting for my OMD to come to pass! I mean if it doesn't, then so be it!

But i'm just so thankful because that means after my last day serving of 2 weeks notice, i will go for my holidays without the need to take leave and when i'm back.. the first working day i will be going to my new company! (whichever it will be in the end).

All the praying and the fasting and the thinking of it really came to pass! THANK GODDDDDD!

Anyway, super excited that tonight i'm gonna be L4D-ing with my buddies and off for supper! Breaking fast! And with the little sleep i will be getting, i will be off to JB tmr with some of my zone friends! That is gonna be exciting because we will go and chill and have our seafood dinner! Crab, Prawn, Cereal Crayfish, Tie Ban Tofu, Fish, KangKong Chill MORE and many many!!! Hehe.

Not too much of shopping for weiwen and i because we are storing our power for the upcoming BKK trip!

I just hand in my resignation letter today. Well, it was okay because the boss knows that long ago and he was really just being nice to take me in to provide a place for me to get the right job. With that, i thank and appreciate it! It's really not the kind of work that i'm looking at and i feel that i can do better elsewhere, provided the opening is made available.

With 2 weeks of notice till 1 day before my BKK trip, i'm really praying and trusting for the confirmation of one of the 2 better interviews that i went to. OMD. OMD. OMD. OMD.

I'm really looking forward to the confirmation but i had to wait and be patient because the director was on leave for the past 2 weeks and now.. the person who interviewed me went on leave. I will only get the confirmation next week, so.. that's why this week is once again a week of praying and fasting for me. I'm really believing for it!! Of course, this is not the only thing that i'm fasting for!

This is the week of setting goals and i already had in mind what i want to do and achieve in 2010. Believing that most of it will come to pass!

Anyway, i'm just looking forward to the BKK trip on 20th! Super exciting just by thinking of it!

I was introduced by one of my JC's friends who happened to know quite a bit of BKK to Moon Bar! It is located at Banyan Tree Hotel and this bar is on the 61st storey! By looking at the picture, i'm sure you know what kind of breath-taking view you would be able to see! Still considering! Hopefully we will come back with news about the place! :)

It's party time! 2 more days to the beginning of a brand new year! I wonder what i will do in 2010!

I mean looking back 2009 has been a great year and not so great one.. Definitely one that i have learnt countless lesson about anything and everything. Bringing those lessons learnt into 2010 and remind myself not to make the same mistake twice. Well, that's a good learner.

Gonna enjoy my last days of 2009 partying and going crazy with my friends! Though i have not had a concrete plan of what i will be doing just yet. Impromptu rocks!

Climbing Up + Celebration Mode

This is probably the best picture that can describe how i feel for weeks after weeks.. and in particularly, this week.

No, i'm not attempting to build my own "tower of Babel" in order to reach the sky.

The need/want/desire/wish/hope/pray for climbing up both the corporate ladder is always in my focus and mind. (of course with. yah.. you know which coy, NOT)

Have been praying and really seeking for the openings to great success, which is why Dr John came with a timely word for me about "setting angels to work". It better be this week, i told them. And i will give them till next week to perform. :)

But of course, this is just one of the ladders that i want to climb back up. I need to climb the ladder of Truth. A mistake is always there to haunt but you just got to kick those negative thoughts and pictures out of your steps to the top once again. Gonna do it!

But on a lighter and merrier note, Christmas is coming! That explains many get-togethers!

Overseas Trip

WOAH, everyone seems to be going Hong Kong for their vacation..

First was the Suting and gang.. then followed by Jared & Jerb... then Edmund's Family went as well! Seems like a good choice! But yeahh.. i realised and heard that it's more for the female and it's definitely their paradise!

Well, about 2 months ago.. Jetstar was having their 1+1 offer and weiwen, the most handsome guy (IMHO) was decided to just jet off for a vacation in January.. So we were pretty fixed on Hong Kong as the dates were awesome and it's only 200+ per person! Well.. we went through and the procedure over the phone and when he was about to click submit.... i stopped him !

"Why don't we head to bangkok?" "It's cheaper!"

Yeah, he was nagging about the sudden decision to change and well.. close shave uh? So we decided to book for BKK !! YEAH, I KNOW.. it's a females' paradise as well but all we want to do is to relax and relax! It's Cheaper & we have definitely more spending power!!

Anyway. Sandy, Theresa & Calynne decided to join us for the trip as well ! AWESOME! Believe that it's gonna be great fun and i'm like counting down to the trip already.. Will it be a relaxing trip.. or a massive shopping one... WELL.. with the 3 ladies around.. what do you think? :)

If i dont get out.. i will get suck into this environment. EARLY RETIREMENT.

Advertising Jobs = Glamourous?

Is working in advertising industry as cool and inspiring as the above ad seems to be?

People tend to have this misconception that when you work in advertising agency, be it creative or media.. you are on the way to the arty-farty and cool track of life. I beg to differ!

Advertising of course, looks extremely glamourous and is the mastermind of all the pretty, inspiring, breath-taking kind of adverts that we see almost everyday, in different forms.

But.. it's really not as glamourous as it will be! The ideal set up will be in the creative team.. you have an art-director, directing the visual of the artwork to make it looks good. The creative director will be there to provide the "Big Idea", Copywriter to write sentencesand contents that will link consumer up with the brand and so forth! Yes, dream on my friends.. Pretty much we like to have that happening.. customer is the key to your success!

Customers are now the art director, creative director and copywriter all put in 1! They are the one who make it a trend in advertising that long hours are required and OT OT OT is so familiar to us.

The only time that those 3 workers come in place with a show of their talents are when they are pitching! A normal pitching for the account will cost the agency USD $20,000 or more.. If you are working for a smaller agency.. forget about it.. No point having them.. just get a designer who is well proficient in adobe's function.. If you are working for a big agency.. good! but the risk of getting whack if the deal is not yours to take in the end.

BUT.. BUT.. BUT.. It's still my passion in Advertising.. Well, any job is the same.. Your passion last you through your job.. I'm still looking for the kind of work within the agency that will keep me pumping.. because it's kind of mundane to be in the media department.. handling the countless requests of ads to be posted on the Major Papers.. I would love to move to creative side.. but first.. let me get on with my dummies for adobe photoshop/illustrator etc first. If it doesn't work.. i will be looking at you.. Marketing in the Bank. That's another part which i would very much love to be in!

Hey hey hey! It has been a week of work @ my new workplace, Starlight Advertising and i don't know what's my feeling of this job.. Reasons?

Pros:

The people are nice, bosses are nice! They have helped me to adapt very well to the office. The office is located @ Ubi and this is a plus-plus point for me! For the past few days, i woke up at 8am and find myself in office by 9am. It's like an envious routine the rest of my colleagues are talking about. The food is good, and basically.. down here.. i get to do whatever i want as long as i finished my work!

Cons:

The people here are kind of "old"? OLD as in.. really old! Guess what.. the long service award goes to Michael, who have been working in Satrlight for 45 years.... and going strong! Scary man..

So what do i do in the office?

Basically for now.. i'm in charge of booking advertisements for client's in classified ads which i will slowly move on to booking of media space in magazine, tv, radio or outdoor ads! Yes, it's kind of boring for the start because everyday i have to deal with a lot of paper work which i really hated.

And of course, more than the paper work is the eye for details to make sure everything goes on smoothly for the ad to finally be published!

Well, i do scheduling as well for monthly clients.. and we got quite interesting base of clients ranging from all the cheena companies..... to the likes of Robinson, Prima, NEA, MCYS and many many more! The boss was telling me that they once did an ad for CHC too! For receiving the ISO!

Well, i believe there's more for me to learn but.. haha my feeling is that.. i will learn as much as i can for now and see how it goes in 3 months or maybe lesser? haha depends whether my boss increase my pay................................. FAT HOPE.

Of course.. lastly.. my jobscope includes.. surfing net like how i'm blogging now. :)

end of job hunt but still hopeful for a dream

Yes! That's so called the end of my job hunting after many many weeks! I was offered a position in Starlight Advertising as a media coordinator!

Starlight Advertising is pride as the longest running local advertising agency! It has been around since 1952 and has come a long way! So what does a media coordinator do?

The ideal job scope of a coordinator is basically advising the clients on the medium to advertise in in order for the message of the ads to get across effectively. Of course i will definitely have to start with the easiest and i will only know what i will be doing on Monday!

Before i was given a call by Starlight yesterday, i was called up by one of the most impactful and creative agencies called TBWA. They handle accounts like Visa, Singapore Airlines, Standard Chartered and many more prominent companies that we know! If you think the advertisement are creative, it's the work of TBWA.

I was so excited about this call! They called to basically find out more about my interest and although what they are offering me is not what i want to do but i think it could just help me a lot more in my career advancement! I think the position of a web specialist handling big client's account is not too bad either yah? :)

Another reason why i was so excited about it was that 2 years ago, i participated in an advertising competition. TBWA was one of the companies involved and my mentor for that compy was an Account Director from TBWA. I was so into them that when i was asked on the survey form which agency i would like to go into if i were chosen, i placed them above the likes of Ogilvy & Mather, DDB and Saatchi & Saatchi.

Will my dream company contact me tomorrow for an interview? I'm really hopeful of that. If not i will stick to Starlight which is also good because a smaller environment gives me more opportunities to learn all the traits in an agency!

Well, i'm leaving this to God because i made a prayer that if within thursday and friday i'm given a chance for interview @ TBWA and i'm chosen.. that's a sign. If not, that is also another sign. :)

So i was just browsing through the ad and i saw this band which i have seen in a shop a month ago and Lucas was just sharing with me that he already has this device!

This device helped you record down your running distance! The more amazing and motivating part is that it allows you to upload to computer and compete with your friends! Let say.. whoever reaches 25KM first will win a sumptuous lunch from the loser... It's really a lose to gain situation. Lose weight, gain food. :)

But for me.. its really gain weight and lose interest in sports.. NOW.. a new motivation! HAHA and i'm gonna run this evening.. without the sportsband first. :)

Why am i so excited?! If you guys remember which i think none of you will... i blogged about this papaya milk that i drank in Taiwan during my Mission Trip and when i was back in Singapore, i looked all over but couldn't find it.. but it's finally in town!

I think it just came to Singapore! Really Nice!!! I was super super happy when i saw it and it really made my day!

Potential vs A Pot of Curry

Yes i know.. what does potential have to link with CURRY?! I was giving BS to two of my members on Monday evening and i was sharing with them on fellowship! So basically we went through the norm but out of the norm, i had a further revelation of it!

One part of the BS was about us having special abilities and talents but all these good stuff are not just for ourselves, but also to help others!

I always see the creativity and the talent in the CG.. People who can draw, design, video-shoot, dance and many many more. How do they use all these to serve God?

It's really like a pot of curry.. We know what is inside of it.. but only until we open the lid, there we can smell that awesome smell..

People must be release and be given a chance to do whatever that adds value to the group because that is the uncapping of the potential of what ANY one can do in the KOG.

I'm looking forward to 911, because.. it's the time for potential to uncover itself to its fullest!

Leader's Outing + Nerf Fight!

What a wonderful Sunday we just had! We had our Leaders' Meet Up at Edmund Tay's place! We were excited about the new game we gonna play..... NERF!

Thanks to some of the leaders who decided to invest on it and it could well be a game that we can play within subzone or compete with one another! So we played, we had fun! We basically set up boundaries and barriers so as to prevent the "bullet" from hitting us! To think that this game caused a lot of us to have thigh cramps... because we had to duck and squat from barriers to barriers! I TELL YOU... PAIN.....

So while relaxing.. this is what they do... Haha.

So the star player of the Nerf challenge is non other than..

Well, it's quite obvious lah uh? :))

So we fellowshipped, eat and had lot's of talking! Then we proceeded to play some games organised by Keith!

First, it was this game called the Balderdash or something where we had to come up with a creative definition of the word given by Keith and the most creative and trustable definition will of course have teams to vote for them. I was in the team made up by Ed Tay, Bernice and Jing! We were the Co-Champion for this game! Absolutely love it! HAHA. Of course the new word HUMMUM and ICHIBOO stays in my mind even till now. HAHA.

Had another game and the objective is to use those colorful pieces and form the word given.. It was tough man!!

Overall, good fun, good food, good fellowship! COOL man! :))

HAHA. Yes, last group photo and we went home.... with my legs feeling the cramp still.. Can't wait for the next outing!

My First Golfing Experience

Last Friday i decided to go out for lunch with one of my officers and my understudy, the one who proclaims and sneaks to my Facebook and declares that i love him or etc.. a CRAPPY guy indeed.

Usually i don't go for lunch (WHY STILL LIKE THAT?!) and i would sleep in for an hour or so to just get back my lovely sleep due to all the late nights which never seems to end.

So after a good lunch at Long House.. The both of them decided to go some golfing! At first, i thought they were going to return some clubs because recently my branch has been busy with some golf events which my boss was put In Charge.

So well, i decided to follow them and DAAA DAAA ! I was there and tried out a few shots! I tell you.. I REALLY CMI.. Cannot Make it! First of all, i just can't get it and secondly.. i'm using a right hander's club which makes it even harder for a noob like me! GOSHHH. It was crazy!

Here's me trying my best to hit it.. BUT... SIGHHHHH.

Well, it was fun but definitely not my cup of tea, kopi or teh-si! But i'm sure i would love to try again..

Talking about trying new sports.. i would love to pick up tennis!!! Anyone? I have a tennis racket! But i don't use it man!!!! I want to make good use of the racket!! :)

I was looking at this picture in Deviant Art and i feel so relax.. I don't know why but i just feel good. Maybe i really enjoy spending quiet time alone at times. I still remember the times when i was in my old office in NS.. i totally enjoy the "alone" lifestyle because it gives me a lot of time to think about anything and everything. I got my fair share of thoughts, revelation and understanding about life and a lot of other stuff. Those were the times i feel so good and relax.

But of course, not forgetting *$ (Starbucks) has that very same effect too! Writing stuff on the serviettes, drinking my favorite blend or CM.. Reading a magazine and those nice songs in the store just makes the day better! Of course.. it musn't be crowded because.. it just a kill off to the atmosphere!

And the best way... right now at this moment for me to relax... is to...

Job Job Job Hunting!

Yes! The reason for looking for a job now is that i will be finishing my NS term in 3 weeks time! Which means 14 more working days! And i'm gonna use my 4 days leave wisely by taking half day 8 times! HAHA. Well.. I just got to make full use of it!

Anyway.. getting out of NS now might not be a very good time because it seems that i will be quitting a job that doesn't allow resignation or are there any retrenchment! (grrr) So for the past 3 weeks, i have been going to Jobstreet website to look out for jobs and asking my friends to see if there are any offers! So far.. i had a few offers! But i'm really believing for better ones to come in which means better location, better pay!

All things gonna work out well! Believing! After all, i think it's not difficult to get a job.. it's difficult to get a job to match your criteria! Maybe or maybe not.. i cannot be that choosy! It's my first proper job anyway!

I hope the next time round i post an entry.. is that i have gotten a very gooooooooooood job!

Skipping ?!

Yes! I have been skipping a lot! Not school, not NS (Though some of you may beg to differ) and definitely not my meals! (Yes yes, i just love to eat! Who doesn't?)

Anyway, yes i'm back to my old love exercise which is Skipping! I finally act on what i have been thinking and talking about by buying the rope! It is really cheap and good sport and i was so so excited that very night i skipped 2200 times! Oh.. a bit more for you.. i was National Skipping Champion when in my primary school! COOL HOR. HAHA

That was a lot i tell you and i really had very bad aches on my calves the next morning i woke up. HAHA. I was talking to a few friends and they said that skipping really helps to lose the mass and swee told me that its good to lose face fats! Maybe it will work for me! YOU GUYS OUT THERE, MAY MY HEAD WILL BECOME SMALLER LAH! :)

I had a very good and fruitful talk with Weiwen (Why you so handsome?) on Saturday and we talked about many many issues. I feel sometimes, really really we gotta enlarge our mindset about influence.

I told myself.. i don't want to just influence my cgm, but everyone that i come in contact with. :) Of course, not with my crazy-ness! Hahahahaha.

I love this picture very much! It explains how most of us.. having being equipped.. but are blinded even though the harvest are just right in front of you! Evermore, i'm more eager to reach my friends again! That was a revelation to me.. or rather.. it serves as a reminder.

Anyway i had my 2nd operation on my wisdom tooth and it was equally successful! I personally feel that the stories of it being really painful is kind of overated and it just probably serves to scare you! HAHA maybe, i was really blessed to escape from the painful experience!

Things i did:

Met Cassandra after so long! I was somehow sabotaged to go roller blading! Though it was 1 hour.. i found myself falling in love with it! 2nd round? :) Good catch up with her!

Met Caroline at PS. Good catchup! And she was promoting BBB all the way! I still prefer IPHONE. :)

Did some stunts which created surprises. Glad it work out.

Passion for God. i thought of an acronym. It was really a 5 min thought through which i think was really amazing, yet impactful! Gonna share during cell!

I wanna impart, i wanna share, i wanna impact, i wanna see change.

I really hope for this hope to realize. GOD!

Wisdom Tooth Extraction

I went for my Wisdom Tooth Extraction appointment yesterday. I was actually feeling quite nervous about it because i have been hearing all the painful stories about it. I nearly wanted to postpone but decided i should be a MAN and just go through it. Moreover, if i don't go soon, i will have to fork out my own cash for the surgery as i will not be covered by SPF by then. Thank you "Ah Gong"! If you know what i mean. HAHA.

I was there half an hour earlier and i waited for a while. While waiting, a malay girl came out of the surgery room and looks okay. Her mum was asking whether was it painful, she said it wasn't. That really make me feel a little better. HAHA.

I went in, had to sign some forms that in case the surgery cause some permanent numbness to your tongue, they will not be responsible for it.

Okay so i was asked which side i want to extract first because i have 4 wisdom tooth and i'm only taking 2 out.

Okay, so when i decided, i was ask to go to the surgery room.. that's where the real thing happens. I lied down and they were really nice, making sure i'm okay and everything.

They covered my eyes with 2 pads so that i won't see what i shouldn't see. They injected to my gums and soon after, i felt the numbness. So.. now.. the doctor was like

"Okay david.. i will be drilling and cutting your lower wisdom tooth." Well, it sounded fine.. BUT when the sound came on.. it was really scary. It looks like the doctor was using...

But thankfully.. it was quite okay for me for the surgery part although constantly i was really afraid they would drill my tongue or something.. and i make sure my tongue stayed still!

When they are done, i thought to myself.. well, seems easy.. think it's gonna be okay for the extraction.. BUT no! it was really painful for me during the extraction part. They literally applied full force to pluck the tooth out.. I was really in pain that i had to stop the doctor and he offered another jab to numb further. Of course, i accepted it immediately! The pressure was really really strong and hard for me to bear even when the 2nd jab was given. Well, still.. had to endure through.

This must be what they used! Oh man.. i got a little phobia when i go for the 2nd round!

Well, thank God that till today.. there is no pain. Probably the strong effect of the painkiller. I mean painkillerS. I thought i will be talking lesser or something but.. i think i shocked a lot of people by talking a lot. HAHA. I was even drinking Starbucks after that. Man... i hope the 2nd round would be as good as this, less the painful extraction part! :)

Revelation

Hellooo, yes i know i have not been blogging because i'm really lazy + yahh.. actually just very lazy to do it.

Anyway, it was an awesome week! Last week AR. Bernard came and really preached a word in season to me! Was really excited throughout the week and i was just working on the revelation and transform this to my cg project. Everyone will be involved and be on the same page!

I'm just very excited what God is gonna kick start in the cg and i really really pray that every single one in the cg will not be weary but really treat this project that i will be sharing with them as something that they will take it as their own!

Anyway, i think i got an enlightenment in a sense that the question asked was so timely about what i'm gonna do after my ORD in less than 2 months time.. Probably gonna work first! Already sent 2 resume to my reservist friends that came and hoping for good paying jobs with awesome environment and working time to come!!!!!!!! GOD, hear my prayer! If you read my blog, do pray for me too!

Right direction comes with acknowledging God daily.

Camp CastAway - AWEEESOME!

Camp CastAway can be describe by 1 word! - Experiential!

This year's was a a little different as we ventured to the island instead of the usual school's setting. It was challenging because it was our first ever island camp and there were a lot of things to take note of!

But all the hard work paid off when we saw everyone enjoying themselves to the MAX!

Here's a little preview about the camp...

We reached St John's Island around 11am and all were excited to start this adventure!

We gathered the people in the "Prison Cage" where we did a quick briefing before everyone went to their respective room and then gathered to the meeting room for the opening of the camp!

After all the camp orientation, we had lunch and all ready for Team Building Games! Very FUN and of course.. the waterbomb was the highlight!

And of course.. the night was still young at 12am when we woke all of them up for our anticipated night game!

We tortured them like never before with the limited resources! HAHA, we purposely picked those who are timid and seem to be fearful of our station. That's why Joseph and I were there at that station! Joseph were supposed to move around to different stations but with his evil nature kicking in, he decided to stay in the Cage till the game ended!

2nd day we had our telematch, cum terrain water fight which was very very exciting!

After that the people break for their final drama rehearsal...

Finale -

Drama was super good! Well-prepared. So much better compared to last year.

The spoof award was super funny! With the Flasher award which was spoofed by Lim Tian Yi being the funniest!

Every good thing has to come to an end, so we praised the best we can and ended with a fellowship song which left most of us.. feeling a bit... You know what i mean..

So it was a very good camp with many new things and new people working on them.

Thanks to all the committee and everyone who made this camp possible!

Subzone Games @ West Coast Park

You probably thought you have read the wrong post because for the first week of our Fantastic weekend, we were actually going for KTV at Bedok!

Due to many consideration and a FULLY packed June, we decided to go easy with our pocket and have something simple yet a fun time together playing... SPORTS!

Sports again?! You might say but i think we really had lots of FUN playing it especially we did not just stay and form teams in cg level! We mixed everyone around so that we won't be just confined to our own cg!

At the same time... it was a great opportunity for the latest addition to the subzone, Shing's CG to know the people better!

4 Fantastic Weekends!

Hey hey hey! We have just finished our Mini Emerge and i think it was really well done! The strikeforce, O school dancers, the orchestra, the musicians and singers are all under the age of 25! Not forgetting the hosts for various events like the first time ever "Are you smarter than a teenager?".

So of course the next 4 weeks will be full of events as well because the students are having their HOLIDAYS!!!

For our subzone, we will be having KTV Challenge on the 1st week followed by You've got Talent cum Are you smarter than a 12 year old?. For the 3rd week, we decided to go makan makan at one of the steamboat places and lastly.. we will be having our ET ZONE camp on the last week of JUNE!

Manchester United lost to Barcelona 2-0.

Yes, the hope of winning the Champion League for 2nd year in a row was crushed by a well prepared and amazing Barcelona.

I believe many people are wondering why Man Utd are playing at such level when it was time to show their power at this stage.

Many coffee shop uncles, bookies that are collecting bets must be whining and cursing about their loss because Man Utd is clearly the favorite for the match between the two finest teams in the world today.

I personally watched the match together with Lucas, Weiwen and Albert, one of lucas' childhood friends from Hong Kong.

Yeah, the 10th and 70th minutes was heartbreaking... but i think apart from this... We had an awesome season!

On Wednesday night, we decided to have a group dinner as Cinthia, Nadia and Caroline will be going back home to Indonesia for around 2 months! :(

We had our dinner at Esplanade Glutton Bay as we want to go easy for dinner and spend longer time at our chill out place.

So together with the Indo Girls, Peilin, Nick, Alex, Fiona, Hongxiang and i had a quick meal there and we went to One Fullerton's Starbucks. Sabrina came to join us after her lesson.

The whole stretch of One Fullerton was filled with people as it was Ladies Night and the club ButterFactory is just located there.

So to avoid the crowd as well as the humid weather.. we took the seats inside and we really had a good time fellowshipping except the fact that there was different channel because the Indo Girls are talking in their Bahasa at the normal speed x 3.

And so.. the pair that is going off wanted a photo together so i was trying to move backwards and i ended up tripping the step! Slipped and FELL.

I was in a daze for a few seconds and they just pose and there the shot was taken.

Anyway... GOOD FELLOWSHIP! And there we went off and to catch our last train/buses.

Am very excited for this week's cg because we gonna have many people coming and an awesome time fellowshipping! :)

A day in Chinatown

As Vesak Day falls on last Saturday, thus Police Force had an OFF in due for us and i decided to claim the Monday off!

So i decided to meet Weiwen to go Chinatown together as he had the day off too!

Our objective for this trip is to really explore Chinatown and of course, we heard hair products in Chinatown are selling really cheap! That kind of excites us! HAHA.

Before we started our shopping, we went to eat!

We saw this really really long queue of Yong Tau Foo but due to time constraint, we had to give it a miss and settle for the other store's.

Well, i thought it was SO-SO only. But the Xiao Long Bao we had was awesome! A bite and the sauce flows out.. MAN.. Heavenly..

So then after our lunch, we went to shop for our hair product! We went to a few shops and the first shop that we went to was the best! It has the most variety of products! The prices are equally cheap among the 3 shops.

Weiwen and i settled for this! Actually, i really prefer L'oreal over Gatsby. Now i got a cheaper deal and it's $3-$4 cheaper than the retail price outside! WOOHOO. Quite a steal.

So after this, we decided to shop at this People's Park Complex where we had the Durian Pancake! Super good! The durian was so rich man.. and we had 2 of it! I know i know i got to cut down but then... yeah it was simply irresistable! HAHA.

So when we were checking out that mall, we came across many many foot reflexology shops and massage parlor. So i was telling Weiwen that out of so many, i believe there will be a few that comes with "Extra Service", if you know what i'm talking about. Weiwen said all the shops should be "Clean".

So we decided to see how many "ES" shops are there in that mall.

And of course, there were 2 shops that seem really really sleazy! We saw this indian uncle.. coming out from an empty shop, with a China lady and he was smiling, grinning his way out! Weiwen and i was laughing really hard because we really think he did not just go there for massage.

That explains why..

Okay, that aside.. we really had a long long walk and we practically walked through the whole Chinatown in 3hours! It was really fun and enjoyable! It's good to visit there once in every 2-3 months because it gives a different feel from the normal Orchard Road or City Hall.

Mas Selamat - How did he survive in Johor for 1 year?!

Apparently the biggest news for the past 1 week has been the fact that Jemaah Islamiah terror network leader Mas Selamat Kastari was caught in Skudai, a town located at Johor Baru. 30 policemen were surrounding his house and finally caught him during his sleep. He barely put off any struggle.

Since his Singapore's version of "Prison Break" 13 months ago from Whitley Detention Centre, He had fled to Johor and spent his time there. The amazing fact lies in the power of his ability to swim across to Johor despite the biggest man-hunts in the history of Singapore.

Thankfully, he was caught before that because.. it was said that he was planning to attack Singapore and are aiming at the main areas like.. Singapore flyers and prominent places.

But the question remains on how did he exactly survive in that small little town when he hardly talks to anyone? From the Straitstimes, he was offered help by 2 of his friends whom were also caught on the same day of Mas Selamat's arrest.

A Brand New Beginning

Wow! WoW! WOW!

I was very excited and still very excited about this week because it's the birth of a BRAND NEW group!

This brand new group is a combination of people mostly from Jared side as well as Lucas'. The fact is that the people are creative, talented and i'm sure they are fun to be with! A guitarist without his guitar is like a soldier without his rifle.

For the past few weeks, i have been looking at different guitars in the market because my beloved Zion 21-D is slowly but surely dying down. Zion is awesome, no doubt about it and that's the reason why when i went to Living String when it was back at Excelsior Shopping Centre, i bought it without any hesitation. It cost me around $450 with the gig bag.

So now.. i think i should invest in a high end guitar so that it can last me for a long long time i hope.

So which guitar have i laid my eyes on?!

1) Gibson Hummingbird

This guitar is a "Dream Guitar" of all acoustic guitarist!! Spare you all the specifications but it's really a great sounding guitar. I think KC was using a hummingbird during last sunday's service! A gibson guitar is hand-made and it sounds very good for plucking and good for strumming too! It gives a very crisp sound~ Love it!

Cost: S$4000

2) Taylor 410-CE

For a taylor guitar, only 300 series and above are Full-Solid and to get a 300 series, i might as well go for 400 series. An awesome awesome guitar that has been used by many celebrities all over the world, wow! i would love to get one of these! Our worship leader, Poh is using a Taylor as well, not sure what series though. Taylor is more specialised for strumming than plucking.

Cost: S$3000

3) Alvarez - MD90C

This guitar is definitely one of the best buys at its range in term of brand, cost and quality! i have not found out much about this guitar but it's a full solid guit as well. I was recommended to get this for the price matches my budget!

Cost: S$1700

I have a few options, either i save up and wait till i have that kind of money, then i will buy it or i will go for installment! I mean installment is very attractive lah but then again.. i have lots of things on installment as well. Well, i just have to depend on God. HAHA. May i get one of these guitars soon!

SAVE THE EARTH?! GO GREEN?!

No man, that's not what GO GREEN means when it comes to our sub-zone this week! It was an highly anticipated event which includes lots of effort and sweat involved!

After our church service with Dr.John Avanzini, which i believed all of us had been greatly blessed, we gathered as a sub-zone to go through the briefing with Jared before we head off to Vivo City.

Everything was fine especially the weather! Hot and Sunny..... but while we were having our lunch, it suddenly rained and i mean it really rained! After waited for a while, we decided to commence with the game despite the rain! We twisted the game plan and decided to push the last station of our race to the first station after the warm up game which teams had to run around Vivo City to answer the questions being prepared for them.

Meanwhile, the game led by Joanne was shifted to the Amphitheatre @ Level 3 Vivo City. It was during this time that the rain slowly subsided and we decided to go ahead with the rest of the game!

After Vivo, the teams had to go through the Marang Trail to reach the next station near the "Jewel Box", a restaurant up there @ Mt Faber. So they had their first really station game called "Ping Ping Pong Pong"! In theme with the hottest sport in Singapore and the latest show which 2 up and coming stars were acting, we had a game of Table Tennis! Had fun there!

So from my station, we walked all the way past all the other stations to get to the end point. Cutting it short, we had Visa Dance where teams had to do that and improvise the steps as well, according to the music we played for them through the radio! Had also the PASSING game where thrash bag and a waterbomb was used. Go and guess how it was being played. I had no idea how to explain. HAHA. WHAT? That's why i'm not the game master of that station what!

Next up, before we ended it off, we had to show the teams a little dance (Click here!) which was darn popular in Taiwan. They had to learn within 15mins and show to the rest of the sub-zone! It was super funny!

I wonder.. since when we taught lionel this move! OMG.

So before we ended the day, selected few displayed their talents to all of us present there and we had a good laugh! It was messy but it was meant to be!

Sunday ET Newcomer's Tea/AGM/Sharing

We had a very good ending for the relationship service with the drama hitting the roof! Many of us were left speechless and laughing our hearts out! Good job to our Church's Drama Team. They never fail to amaze and it was a daring effort man!

Anyway, after service, the youth cell groups from the zone @ Expo side were gathered at the conference rooms for exciting events! We had ice breakers -> light tea break -> videos -> more games and a powerful and impactful testimony by our very own Edward aka BAO GE.

Very sure that they had lotsa fun and i think the friends understood that we are more than just a group, but we are a family!

So after the session, we rushed down for our AGM and man.. it was my 1st time attending it! I was quite clueless at the beginning of the things being done. HAHA. It was really an experience! Right after AGM, Ps Tan shared something about a new initiative! Like what shing said, he was really inspiring and i too was captivated by his sharing! Way way awesome!

Went dinner with the leaders and had a good time SUAN-ing. When you put Joseph and David together.. HAHA.. shing will tell you what to expect!

A very packed sunday but was very very fruitful! :)

Holiday Holiday Holiday!!

I just need more money and time for another short trip!

Yes, i know i just came back from Bangkok 2 months ago. but man, the experience of leaving Singapore for a while to take a breather is indeed awesome. Putting aside everything and enjoy the moment (not exactly true).

So since i have completed BF officially, it means there is a portion of money that i can either save it up or for holidays!

So i have been checking out a few places with various airlines and recommendations!

1 - BANDUNG

If you are a reader of ohsofickle.blogspot.com, Tammy was sponsored a trip to Bandung and man i think she enjoyed herself there with all the cheap shopping in all those factory outlets!

How cheap is it?!

Airasia is currently offering a good deal @ less than $150 two way flight!

2 - Bangkok

Of course, the picture suggested a lot of idea of whether you should go bangkok now. haha but then again, when february was a time of protesting and chaos there, we went ahead and had a goood goood time shopping there. I even wore red on the last day! Unless there is a closure of the airport, if not i still think it's good to go. If you are daring enough. ha ha ha.

How much?!

Budget air like Tiger is offering around $150-$170 depending on the timing of the flight you want.

There is never enough of BKK and i want to go back there and take a photo of "Chi Chi" for all my friends here and you all know why i was so devastated. HA!

And of course, if i have a higher budget to spare.... i would love to visit...

3 - TOKYO

Yes! Japan! I always wanted to go there as it is the Fashion Hub of Asia! Heard so much about that place and i want to experience it myself! Shopping and eating are gonna be awesome. The only factor is that it's gonna be very expensive. I heard my friend saying that one of her friends went and came back, spending $3k plus. I might as well buy my gibson acoustic guitar?! HAHA. so dream on david till you have lotsa of money to spare.

How much?!!!

Singapore Airline is offering an incredible deal @ $660! I think it's one of the best rates consider taking one of the best airlines in the world today. Someone enlighten me if there is somewhere cheaper! I'm really looking forward to go there in the near future man.

I seriously hope i'm able to go to one of these destination soon, esp no. 3! Where would you love to go? Tag or comment and let me know your choice!

Maybe one of the airlines i mentioned will reward me for publicising for them. HAHA. Who knows. Anything can happen!

Awesome Easter, Funtastic Retention!

Hello, back from 5 services, dead tired but really excited in the spirit! God has been really good and our cg had a breakthrough! We had a total of 49 friends for Easter and having all the irregular coming back all at one go, total people that came amount to 72! PTL! Awesome Awesome weekend.

Thank you E316 and the (FFF) Fellow Frontline Fighter for sacrificing and being so willing!

Out of so many people, we have a very potential bunch of friends that we know and we know are fruits that will remain! As of now, we have already 2 confirmed for next week and we are believing for more more more!!

And what about the next few weeks? It's gonna be very exciting for our individual cell group as well as the subzone!!

It's gonna be 3 weeks of Fun, FUn and more FUN!! It's gonna be tiring, but believing that it's a mind blasting season for us as a cell, as a subzone, as a zone and as a Church! So let's do it!

Since i saw this on Ps Phil's tweet, i've been mediating upon this. And how true it is. When you begin to show care to certain things, surely it will grow up to the next level. Take relationship for example, when there is more contact, more effort made to look out for each other, i'm sure it will grow. That's the truth about focusing! When there is focus, nothing else can distract you from getting what you want.

Sure enough that if i can pay more attention and focus for the next 2 weeks on the more impt things, there will bound to be breakthroughs!

Anyways, had a good meeting at edmund and minghui's house last night! had a good time worshipping + good sermon! Relationships precedes a lot of thingss.

My First Bangkok Trip in 10 years.

Hello! Promise will update on my Bangkok Trip, so here it is! A lot of you especially those i saw last week would have already heard what has happened!

So... now for those who hasn't heard it... here it goes!

We took the first flight out from SIN to BKK which is at 710am. All of us had to wake up really early just to check in an hour before we flew off. Apparently, jeremy and ying didn't sleep at all. i wonder how they do that.

We were really excited about this trip because all of us had something in common!

To get out of Singapore and SHOP SHOP SHOP!

So there goes the 2hrs flight with Tiger Airways and the rest spent most of the time playing Daidee while i took the chance to catch some sleep before the never-ending shopping comes.

After reaching BKK, we headed straight to Pratunam Area as our hotel is located there. I must say.. we really made the right choice on deciding to stay in Citin Pratunam. I have read so many comments in Tripadvisor and this was one that really caught my attention. It is value for money, convenient, CLEAN, and the staff are very friendly as well. As i'm a clean freak, which i think i am.. really made me choose this 3-Star hotel above others.

LOL, this is what i saw... they OPENED.

Anyway, after settling some administration, we headed straight to Chatuchak Weekend Market (JJ Market) . But before we went there, we were tricked to go to this Jewelry Place so that those Tuk-Tuk Drivers can go and redeem their gasoline vouchers. OMG. To think we are really kind-hearted to give them more than what they requested because we thought they really earn very little..

Alright, upon arrival at JJ Market, we headed straight for shopping without the thought of settling our stomach. haha That was how eager we were. and within a few mins.. The girls had a few bags already. HAHA. We went separate ways to maximise our shopping.

See.. Quite sad right.. It was HOT HOT HOT and we didn't really buy a lot of things there.. UNLIKE THE GIRLS. hahaa.

That trip to JJ Market occupied our first half the day and we were thirsty, hungry and tired. So we decided to treat ourselves to a good meal at Kuang Seafood. The food was not too bad and we also decided to treat ourselves to MASSAGE. no.. i'm not going to repeat the whole process here but it was kind of.. weird.. if you know about it.

So we had an early night and the next day we went to the Pratunam Market and Platinum Mall. It was really a great time of shopping there because i think there's more things for guys to look at and buy. Shop and shop..

One of the stall owners, which i bought t shirts from recommended us to this Japanese Restaurant at Central World, apparently a high class place. After shopping, we decided to go and try it! On the way there...

The place is called Sabushi and it's really quite nice! Free flow drinks, ice cream and fried stuff. So within the given 1hr and 15 mins by the restaurant, we ate and ate.. and it cost us only $12 dollars or so! Value for Money!

Next.. after the dinner, we headed down to Patpong to take a look at their Red-Light District. Basically nothing much there.. the highlight was us entering into the GAY LANE and we almost got pushed/pulled/dragged in by those pimps. It was like what angelina said.. overwhelming but kind of cool to encounter this. hahaa.

Well, we went back to the same massage place and i was massaged by a Tranee! Thanks to the 2 girls. THANK YOU AH. Back to hotel, we played games after games, and... see what we did as forfeit..

Next day was nothing much because we went to MBK! Overrated Shopping. Really wasted our time! And because we need to travel by cab or tuktuk.. we again.. were taken to the Jewelry Shop... I tried to be a Hongkonger, but that lady knows how to speak Cantonese! Gosh.. i was like.. Oh man.. but yar.. really disappointing.

We traveled a lot because we met up with other group of friends that were there for shopping trip too. We went by cab to somewhere near the airport, played some games while waiting for everyone to be ready and we traveled down to this place that is ultra ULU. Went there by a big pick up which ferried all 13 of us.

The shopping mall has no people and we ate at this MK Restaurant. Had fun talking and crapping.

We headed to Chinatown.. then to this small night market which again.. the girls had the best out of the place. HA..

The last day, we did some last min shopping and till about 4+ we headed to the airport..

This is it! HAHA really enjoyed this trip a lot. Though like a lot of people and what we think... the combination was kind of weird, but we really had fun together! Looking forward to the next trip! :).

Morning Prayer + Bangkok Preparation

Hello everybody! This week is our church's Prayer Week and everyday without fail, people gathered at different locations to encounter God early in the morning!

I think it's really a breakthrough that so many people actually came for the morning meeting as it starts at 6.30am! As Singaporean, it is really tough for us to get out of our bed so early and travel down to different places to pray! That is amazing! At this rate + the hunger of the people, i'm sure many NEW THINGS will evolve as a result of intensive praying!

Personally, though i feel very tired physically, but i'm excited on the inside! A lot of areas that i covered for the past 3 days and without fail, i will write them specifically on my Prayer Book! I think it is really a good idea because if ever we run out of things to pray, we can go back to whatever prayers that are not answered and pray till it happens!

Other than the PM that i'm excited about, i'm also very excited about the upcoming trip to Bangkok! Actually this trip is more than just relaxing and shopping.. because weiwen and i actually had planned to buy in some goods from BKK and sell in Singapore! So with the limited capital i have compared to Ching Wei Wen's regular pay.. we pool our money and decided to give it a try!

So rather than just talking about it, i decided to act upon it and da da*, i'm going to BKK on 22nd. Hoping to find really cheap and good clothing so that the business will be a success!! Believing that it will be a time of FUN FUN and more FUN! The combination though a little weird, but i guess its still gonna be good! Till then, stay cool and funky!

Celebrating my Grandma's Birthday!

Today as i begin to wake up, i was plotting on how to surprise my grandma as she was clueless that i have liaise with all my uncles and aunties plus my mum to celebrate my grandma birthday. My grandma has asked not to let everyone know that its her birthday because most of them only remember her lunar birthday. So as to appreciate her.. i decided to gather all of them to give her a good birthday surprise!

As it approaches 4pm.. my uncle and aunt started coming group by group and my grandma was rather puzzled on why everyone actually gathered @ our house as we had 2 different groups of reunion dinner this year. She was too happy to think as it was quite a rare scene to see everyone in the internal family to come together, same place same time!

So as everyone gathered, we got her to go to the room and talk because she kept on asking everyone to eat and keep hanging in the kitchen! so as she was in the room. my 2nd uncle and i prepare the cake! Sorry no photo and i totally forgotten about it!!!

but nevertheless, as everyone was ready, we asked her out and we started singing the birthday song! I TELL YOU, i think today she had the day of her life man! she was smiling, smiling and smiling as we sang her the birthday song! She made a wish blow the cake and thats pretty much end the whole thing.

Though it was short celebration, but she kept telling me again and again on how happy she was and of course.. partly because everyone gathered together!!

JB TRIP

Yesterday was an off day for me as i have promised seth and alvin for the JB trip as they attempt to buy the whole city square down. HAHA.

It was great fun talking and spending some time with them as the later part of last year were very busy for the 3 of us, individual commitment and ministry to handle. As Seth wanted to have more rest, we only reached JB at 130pm and there we started our shopping craze!

We visited Danga City Mall, the newest mall in JB (cannot make it) and Holiday Plaza where u get all your "Chiong" stuff from.

Nono.. i didn't shop like how i did the last time round 1 week ago. They have bag loads of stuff while i bought the only item of the day, a bag which i have been looking for! good price for that!

I think the best part was the eating as we went to a market near Holiday Plaza for seafood! We only paid 29RM per person and we were full like crazy. Good food indeed though Seth said there are better ones.... Can Singapore have cheaper seafood?

The other time i went with weiwen and the both tims to have dinner at bugis.. Each of us paid $15 for something that's worth lesser than what i ordered yesterday.... how SIAN can that be!!!

Left JB only around 9+ and that was a long journey back home from Woodlands to Bedok.

After so much foood... got to go gym later!!!!

Weekdays

Ever since i fell sick about 2 weeks ago, most of the weekdays of mine were spent at home. What has really got me to go home everyday after work? you must have asked.

It was really about saving money which i would have spent if i'm outside and also about spending time with my grandparents at home! It was really part of my goal this year to stay home and do some fellowship and i have been keep it well!

The thing is that... recently Channel 8 has started one show called the "Reunion Dinner" which got me and my grandma glued to the TV faithfully everyday.

I mean yeah, the storyline was so-so, the people acting the show are no hot babes or so.. but it was really the stupid action and things they said that made me and my grandma laughing like 2 mad people every other day.

Many of you who hang out with me would have know that it is really the "SGT LEONG" "YES MDM" of that show that make me so siao about it.

Okay, enough of that. Was a little tired from yesterday's Amazing Race that was organised for the reservist to play.. and guess what! Nick Chor was also recalled back for this activity!

Tired as i maybe, but am really excited as we enter to the weekends! Gonna have a great time sharing the vision for the cell group and great time fellowshipping!

Hey people!! back to do some updating..

We had an awesome Christmas celebration and thanks to everyone for the gift especially the Ralph Lauren Explorer set that Lucas got for me as the leader's gift exchange.

After Christmas, the working committee for the leaders retreat went through a round of brainstorming as we tried to come out with the freshest idea and games for the leaders to enjoy!

Was really happy because i was given the Best-Newcomer Award! :))

And it wasn't the best for me after the retreat because i fell sick straight after the retreat, which apparently gotten me more than a week to recover about 80%?!

But for the last 1 week, i went home straight almost everyday after work to rest, spend time with family and watching TV! It was really a good rest and that helps in the recovery!

Last sat was the first time since don't know how many years for me to go to JB! Together with Suting, Bernice and Weiwen, we had a good time shopping (according to me) and eating! Next monday, will probably be hitting JB again with Seth, Alvin and James! Gonna have a great time there man!

I'm really excited to fulfill a lot of things in 2009 when i was writing down my goals. I can see a more creative, richer, fitter DAVID emerging from all that was planned out! (If it goes according to the plan).

Can't wait for the 1st Leaders Meeting Later!!

After so long, Finally decided to write something on this dying (DEAD) blog. So many things have happened since the last time i have blogged, and a lot of you must have seen thru many other blogs that what had happened in November was way way awesome.

2 of the most significant events were in November! ASIA CONFERENCE which was soooo awesome that i think i can just go on with this kind of lifestyle forever.... going for conference, workshop... everything about AC was so goood.

Of course, right after AC was my birthday... yeah yeah.. really appreciate the effort from various groups of people as well as individuals..

Gifts upon gifts.. i mean.. sorry i don't have the pictures of those gift that i received but hey...

The whole week of morning prayer was really good and refreshing, though i missed the very first day of it due to oversleeping.. and literally overslept for my work as well..

On wed was something speciai, because i saw a whole lot of things in my spirit. i was very excited and to think of it.. i thought i had fallen asleep and was dreaming actually. Oh yes, i can dream within minutes..

On saturday, we had our very "BLING PARTY" @ Riverwalk. This was one of the bigger scale events that we have done and like what jerb has mentioned on her blog, we had a whole lot of "FIRST TIME" in our zone, and that includes me leading praise for the very first time! Well, it could have been better, more energy could have been released. But well.. hahaha i'm no bro poh.. still learning.. still progressing. It was all well, had the kid's central host coming as well as one of lucas'' NS buddy for a beatbox session!

Though it was a long session, believe that many have enjoyed and on 15th of NOV, there will be another round of BLING! INVITE UR FRIENDS!!!

Had a long long day in expo on sunday, and right after having dinner.. i knocked out @ 10pm till the next morning.. that was how tired physically i was.. but in the spirit i remain excited!! More to come!
